Learn To Say NO.
Learning to say 'No' might not seem like a big deal to you but it's a big deal to some. 'No' is just a two-letter word, right? It's an easy word to pronounce but I wouldn't say it's easy to say out loud.
When you say 'No', you're refusing or denying it, it's a negative decision. You shouldn't feel bad because you are refusing or denying someone something, it is your decision. The aim is to say 'No' without feeling that you have to apologize, it's the other person's responsibility so don't feel like you have to take responsibility for it. Still, we fail to understand this, it's always difficult for us to say the word without feeling a constriction in the heart. Before we learn how to say 'No', I must give reasons why learning to say 'No' is very important:
* Learning to say 'No' is important because saying 'Yes' to everyone all the time leaves you tired, over-committed and stretched to the limit.
* Learning to say 'No' is an important step in setting healthy boundaries. It helps create personal boundaries for yourself based on what is important to you, then commits to sticking with them.
* Saying 'Yes' instead of 'No' is time-consuming. It makes you feel like you have no control over your life because you're always preoccupied with fulfilling the condition of the 'Yes'.
* Saying 'No' means you know what you want. That's an important quality to have.
* Saying 'No' means standing your ground. It can be a brave act.
* It's the best tool you have for distancing yourself from negative people or situations.
Now, let's learn how to say 'No' :
* When you're confronted with the situation of saying either 'Yes' or 'No', don't overthink it when you know you're not okay with saying 'Yes'. Just say 'No'.
* When saying 'No', be curt without sounding rude, i.e, keep it short and sweet.
* Don't give excuses on why you have to say 'No'. You don't have to explain yourself or give excuses.
* Stand up straight. Your body posture matters, you have to build a confident posture for yourself and the person you're dealing with.
* Understand the tactics of the person you're dealing with. Even after summoning the courage to say 'No', you might be influenced into reversing your decision, so you need to understand the game and tactics with whom you're dealing with.
* After saying 'No', be firm; stand your ground.
* Remind yourself that it's okay to be selfish.
If you are not so comfortable with using the 'No' word, there are other ways to say 'No' in English. These words might seem blunt but trust me, they're just the right words for you. You can say:
* Nah.
* Nope.
* Not now.
* Certainly not.
* Not now.
* By no means.
* No way.
* I shall not.
The 'No' word is just like a magic word and as expected we only call on magic seldomly😉. All I am saying is that we should know the right time to say the word, we sometimes mistake 'Yes' for 'No' and 'No' for 'Yes'. Here are signs that indicate when to say 'No'. Say 'No' when:
* You're just too busy.
* You feel guilty or obligated.
* You feel like you're being used.
* You aren't just excited.
* You're getting a bad feeling, e.t.c.
That's all I have for you😊 .
