My Skincare Routine for a Fresh Look

After years of different skincare routines, I’ve finally found the right combination that gives me the healthy, fresh look I’ve always wanted! In this article, I’ll give you my step-by-step skincare routine that I use every day. Just be sure to follow each step carefully, and you’ll get to enjoy the youthful glow you deserve!

2% Retinol

Retinol is an active ingredient in some skin creams and lotions. Retinol, also known as vitamin A, may help to reduce fine lines, wrinkles and pigmentation spots by boosting cell turnover. Apply retinol cream once or twice daily – it’s an irritant so you might experience mild redness when using it for the first time. To avoid irritation, start by applying a small amount to one area of your face every two weeks and then build up to apply over your entire face.

Vitamin C Serum

The active ingredient in Vitamin C serums is L-ascorbic acid, which provides anti-aging benefits by reducing wrinkles and smoothing skin texture. The best time to apply Vitamin C serum is after cleansing and toning but before moisturizing. Mix one pump of serum with two drops of hyaluronic acid serum (see below) and apply evenly on the face. Follow up with moisturizing cream or lotion if necessary.

Liquid Foundation

If your skin is oily, you’ll want to stick with a liquid or cream foundation. These formulas are heavier than powders and offer fuller coverage, which can make skin appear less shiny. Powder foundations can look flat if applied too heavily, so they may be best suited for normal or dry skin types. If you have combination or dry skin, try patting powder onto blemishes instead of sweeping all over your face. A little powder goes a long way when applied correctly!

Sunscreen

Although it’s usually talked about when it comes to skin protection, sunscreen is actually your #1 defense against premature aging and wrinkles. Not only does sunscreen protect you from UVA/UVB rays, but it also boosts collagen production in your skin—which keeps fine lines and wrinkles at bay.

Facial Moisturizer with SPF Protection

The first thing I do every morning is wash my face with a gentle cleanser and apply moisturizer with SPF protection. This gives me an extra layer of protection against harmful UVA/UVB rays. In general, try to avoid products that have unnecessary chemicals; it’s okay to use moisturizers, facial soaps, or cleansers with mild ingredients (particularly if you have sensitive skin). I also like to add some antioxidants in my routine—primarily through food sources.
