stage IV gastric cancer

My wife’s journey with stage IV gastric cancer – and why we’re still fighting

My wife (52) was diagnosed in October 2025 with stage IV gastric signet-ring cell cancer, with extensive peritoneal spread.

We were told it was incurable. But we never gave up.

She received 12 cycles of FOLFIRINOX chemotherapy. The tumor shrank from 14 cm to about 2–3 cm – an 80% reduction.

We then added immunotherapy (Nivolumab), and her CA19-9 tumor marker dropped from 194 to 22 – completely normal.

She finished chemo in May 2026 and is now on maintenance therapy: Nivolumab + Xeloda.

Today, her weight is stable at 51 kg. She walks 2 km every day. Her appetite is good. She is full of energy.

She is one of the rare patients with CD8+ T cells > 50/HPF – a powerful immune advantage that makes immunotherapy work better.

This journey has not been easy. But we are living proof that even stage IV cancer can be controlled, and quality of life can be restored.

We are not cured, but we are stable. We are hopeful. And we are grateful for every single day.

To everyone walking this road with a loved one – don’t give up. Some battles are harder than others, but every step matters.

Ps. She drinks at least 2 liters of water and walk 2 km every day.
