On the basis of Genesis 9:3, 1 Timothy 4:4, Colossians 2:16 and Acts 10:10-15, etc., can one rightfully conclude that eating pork is allowed?
When I was still a Christian or before reverting to Islam as a Muslim, I had always fought tooth-and-nail in the affirmative!
But having reverted to Islam, I learned that pork is absolutely forbidden in Quran, which like the Bible is the latest divine scripture at least 500 years newer than the Bible and one of its original copies is being preserved until nowadays, the Bible being without an original copy, with at least 44 versions, and with many unknown Authors as compared to Quran.
Going back to the question, and with the Bible as a reference, my current view of the question is in negative.
Acts 10:10-15 states that “What God has made clean, you must not call profane.", specifically the “all kinds of four-footed creatures and reptiles and birds of the air” that came from heaven as visioned by Peter.
The question now is do verses like Genesis 9:3, 1 Timothy 4:4, Colossians 2:16, etc. be used as a reason for eating pork? Take note that one of God’s laws is about the prohibition on eating pork, just like the prohibition on eating blood, and Jesus (PBUH) did say according to Matthew 5:17-20, “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law ".
I have learned that since the beginning, like blood, pork is not given by God to men as food, it was expressly prohibited by God to be eaten by men! So unless it was made clean and offered as food by God as He did when Peter was hungry as mentioned in Acts 10:10-15, pork is prohibited to be eaten by His people.
Verses Genesis 9:3, 1 Timothy 4:4, Colossians 2:16, etc. specifically refer to food allowed to be eaten by God’s people. But pork like blood is not created by God to be consumed as food by mankind. The reason, well that is another topic outside the ambit of the above question.
