The physiology of prayer
After prayer or deep spiritual practices like meditation or worship, the body can release several "feel-good" hormones and neurotransmitters that promote calmness, peace, and a sense of relief. While no single hormone is exclusively released "after prayer," science has shown that the following are often involved:
🌿 1. Dopamine – the “Reward” Hormone this sisi💅 is associated with pleasure, satisfaction, and motivation. She makes your body tell you "great job " after you did well in tests or after that savage reply you've been dieing to give the rude neighbor. prayer is one activity that can create a sense of spiritual connection or fulfillment, triggering dopamine release....
💗 2. Serotonin – the “Mood Stabilizer”Helps regulate mood, happiness, and anxiety this boss once his level reduces you're in a bad mood .
But, Serotonin levels can rise during quiet reflection, gratitude, and prayerful states to make us feel good.
🌙 3. Melatonin – the “Sleep” Hormone this is her - the one thoughts of your ex boyfriend causes to diminish once yor body can't bear your thoughts and want to stay up with you 😒... Anyways production of melatonin makes us sleep better and Prayer at night (especially before bed) can calm the mind, reduce stress, and help melatonin production for better sleep.
🤗 4. Oxytocin – the “Love” or “Bonding” Hormone Released during social bonding, trust, and love.
Communal prayer or deeply felt connection with God can stimulate oxytocin, giving a sense of peace and emotional safety.
This is the same hormones your baby's body secretes so they love you more than someone they just met ... still this good old pal when you form Various emotional bonds with people & pets.
5. Endorphins – the “Pain Reliever” Hormones Natural painkillers that promote feelings of euphoria and reduce stress.
This baddie is a banger for me - aside oxytocin though- after the myriad of thoughts that often cause head "splitting" aches your body literally needs her release and boom the pain goes away
Singing, chanting, or heartfelt prayer can release endorphins, especially during worship.
So next time you're in pain say a little prayer to help you aching body 🙂🙂
