The space between ❣️❣️

Clara didn’t know how long they stood there, Seconds. Minutes. Maybe forever.

Jasmine held her tightly, his breath warm against her hair. She felt his chest rise and fall, his heart racing.

For a moment, she let herself lean into him.

But reality crept in.

She exhaled shakily and pushed against his chest. “Jasmine…”

He didn’t let go right away. He hesitated, like he was afraid she’d disappear.

M

Then, slowly, he stepped back.

His dark eyes searched hers. “Clara—”

She shook her head. “Don’t.”

Jasmine’s jaw clenched. “Don’t what?”

“Don’t look at me like that.”

His lips pressed into a thin line. “Like what?”

“Like you just realized something you should’ve known all along.” Her voice was quiet but sharp.

Jasmine inhaled. “I knew.”

Clara’s breath hitched.

He stepped closer. “You think I don’t know what this is? What it’s always been?”

She stepped back. “Then why, Jasmine? Why did you—” Her voice caught. “Why did you make it so hard?”

Jasmine ran a hand down his face. “Because I was scared.”

Clara froze.

His voice softened. “I didn’t want to lose you. I thought if I kept my distance, you’d always stay.” His hands curled into fists. “But all I did was push you away.”

Her chest ached. “And now?”

Jasmine let out a bitter chuckle. “Now I’m watching you slip away, and I don’t know how to fix it.”

Silence filled the space between them.

Years of pretending. Unspoken words. Nights spent wishing.

She had a choice.

She could walk away. Go back to Finn, to something safe.

Or she could stay.

Her heart pounded. “Jasmine…”

He stepped closer. “Do you want me to let you go?”

Her lips parted.

The truth burned inside her, but she was afraid.

Afraid of what it meant. Afraid of how much she needed him.

Afraid that once she said it, there was no turning back.

Jasmine brushed his fingers against hers. “Tell me, Clara.” His voice was raw. “Do you want me to let you go?”

She sucked in a breath.

And then—

She shook her head.

Jasmine’s eyes darkened. “Say it.”

Her fingers tightened around his. “No.”

A slow exhale left his lips.

She felt the shift before she saw it—the way his shoulders relaxed, the way he held her hand like an anchor in a storm.

Then, he did something reckless.

He lifted their intertwined hands and pressed a soft kiss against her knuckles.

Clara’s breath caught.

His voice was steady. “I’m not letting you go.”

And just like that—

She knew.

---

Jasmine didn’t let go of her hand.

Not as silence wrapped around them. Not as the weight of her answer settled between them.

His grip tightened, his thumb brushing her knuckles. “Come with me.”

Clara’s breath hitched.

He didn’t wait for her answer.

Jasmine turned and gently pulled her through the dim hallway.

Her heart pounded.

She could stop this. She could walk away.

But she didn’t.

Because she wanted this. She wanted him.

The air between them was heavy with something unspoken.

Jasmine pushed open his bedroom door.

The room was dark, the city lights casting shadows on the walls.

The door clicked shut.

Then—

Jasmine was on her.

His hands gripped her waist, pulling her close. Their breaths mingled, the heat between them thick and overwhelming.

Then—

His lips crashed into hers.

It wasn’t soft. It wasn’t careful.

It was desperate. Fierce.

Jasmine kissed her like he was done holding back.

Clara gasped, and he took advantage, deepening the kiss, his tongue sweeping against hers. A shiver ran down her spine as his fingers tangled in her hair, tilting her head, demanding more.

She met him head-on, her hands fisting his shirt, pulling him closer.

Jasmine groaned, pressing her against the wall, gripping her hips like he was afraid she’d slip away.

Clara’s head spun.

This was reckless. Messy.

But she didn’t care.

Because for the first time, nothing else mattered.

Just this—

Him.

Her.

And the space between them disappearing.

They were more than friends now.
