To build and maintain a strong relationship requires continuous and constant care and communication. Certain traits have been proven to be very paramount in ensuring healthy relationships.
Each individual (partner) should feel confident that he or she is willing to devote time and attention to the other individual (partner). The partners must both be committed to accommodating the differences of each other, even as changes occur over time. They need to understand deeply that they are not from the same parents or family. There is possibility of the partners not being from the same tribe, race, country or even practice the same religion. So, there is no how their differences won't be there.
In the 21st century, emotional and physical fairness are the hallmark of good relationships; particularly in the distribution of chores necessary to maintain a household. Partners in strong relationships also express their gratitude for one another, openly provide and receive affection, and engage in honest discussions about sex and related topics.
In good relationships, partners try to afford their partner the benefit of doubt, which creates a sense of being on the same team. This feeling, maintained over a long term, can help couples overcome the challenges they will surely face together in relationship or marriage, perhaps, at present or in future.
