Troops Rescued Two Chibok girls After Eight years

Over eight years after they were kidnapped from their school, Government Girls Secondary School in Chibiok, Borno State, two girls have been rescued.

 

The Nigerian Army said in a statement on Wednesday that troops from the 202 battalion intercepted four abducted women, including two girls kidnapped by Boko Haram from GGSS Chibok on 14 April 2014. 

The intercepted Chibok girls, along with their children believed to have been fathered by their abductors, are currently in a military medical facility, according to a brief statement from the Director of Army Public Relations, Maj. Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu. 

The army spokesman also stated that they would be handed over to the state government for further reunion with their families. 

Thelagostimes recalls that on April 14, 2014, the Boko Haram terrorist group kidnapped 276 female students aged 16 to 18 from the Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok in Borno State. 

According to reports, approximately 57 of the schoolgirls escaped immediately by jumping from the trucks on which they were being transported, while others were rescued on several occasions by the Nigerian Armed Forces. 

Over 100 of the abducted students have reportedly gained their freedom so far.
