Causes There’s no known exact cause known cause but there a few factors that contribute greatly to occurrence of type 1 diabetes. They include; • Genetics • Exposure to viruses and other environmental factors • If the body attacks the insulin producing islets cells in the pancreas. Risk factors This are factors that contribute greatly and increase chances of and individual having this type of diabetes • Genetics • Age • Geography • Family history Complications • Heart and blood vessels disease • Nerve damage • Kidney damage • Eye damage • Foot damage • Skin &mouth conditions
