Pesisir Selatan – The Deputy Regent of Pesisir Selatan, Risnaldi Ibrahim, accompanied by Regional Secretary Mawardi Roska and several heads of relevant agencies, attended the West Sumatra Provincial Government's Coordination Meeting (Rakor) with all regencies/cities in West Sumatra. The meeting, held at the Auditorium of the West Sumatra Governor's Palace on Tuesday (August 5, 2025), focused on accelerating the implementation of Minimum Service Standards (SPM) throughout the province.
The coordination meeting was initiated by the West Sumatra Provincial Government to strengthen synergy and evaluate the implementation of SPM, which is the responsibility of each regional government. SPM covers basic services in education, health, public works, public housing, social services, and public order.
The event was attended by the Governor of West Sumatra and his staff, regional heads, and all regional technical agencies responsible for basic services.
The Pesisir Selatan Regency Government demonstrated its commitment by involving all relevant officials to achieve a common understanding and strategy for achieving SPM indicators.
In his remarks, the Governor of West Sumatra emphasized that fulfilling the Minimum Service Standards (SPM) is not merely a formality, but rather a manifestation of the state's responsibility to its citizens.
"Minimum Service Standards are a public right and must be provided by the government. We must not neglect ensuring basic services that directly impact the lives of citizens," the Governor emphasized.
The coordination meeting also featured speakers from relevant ministries to provide technical guidance and evaluate the progress of SPM implementation in districts/cities. Participants had the opportunity to discuss, address challenges in the field, and explore good practices implemented by other regions.
Vice Regent Risnaldi welcomed the coordination meeting. He stated that the Pesisir Selatan Regency Government is ready to improve and strengthen SPM implementation through synergy between all regional government agencies.
"We recognize that basic services are the foundation of public welfare. Therefore, we are fully committed to accelerating their achievement," said Risnaldi.
Furthermore, Risnaldi explained that this coordination meeting provides a crucial opportunity to formulate policies and concrete actions in the region.
"Through this forum, we can learn from the experiences of other regions and develop strategic steps to ensure all SPM indicators are met effectively," he added.
Toward the end of the meeting, all regional heads and representatives of regional government agencies signed a joint commitment to strengthen consistent and integrated SPM implementation throughout West Sumatra.
It is hoped that the results of this coordination meeting will be able to encourage a real improvement in the quality of public services, so that the public can directly feel the presence of the government through better, more targeted, and fairer services.
