Who Forgives Sin

WHO FOR GIVES SIN - GOD OR MAN?

It is easier to answer the above question without a second thought, but there's a deeper meaning to the question.

As long as man lives, he will always commit offences. Though these offences are committed towards each other and hurts ourselves. So, the sin we are talking about is the sin against God.

We've often heard the saying; "to err is human and to forgive is divine". Take note of the term DIVINE.

WHAT  IS SIN?

Sin is an offence against God. It is simply the separation of men from God. Genesis 3:1-6, 2:9,16-17, Colossians 2:13.

On the day man ate from the tree of knowledge, was the day man was separated from God.

When God placed him in the garden of Eden, he gave him the offer to choose between the tree of Life (eternal life) and the tree of knowledge (death or total separation), then he advised him to choose eternal life but man chose death. That choice the man Adam made in the garden is what is referred to as sin against God.

Having known what sin is, we can then discuss who forgives sin.

We've many times heard that Jesus is verily man and verily God. But then, if Jesus is God does he needs to pray to God at any point? Matthew 26:39,42.

Now to answer the question, you've got to know this, that, it is clearly stated in the scriptures that forgiveness of sin comes from God. Psalms 103:1-3. You see, reading from these verses we can see clearly who for gives sin. Read the third verse,

  Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

Psalms 103:3 (KJV).

No man can forgives sin or show you eternal Mercy. It is God who shows Mercy. Psalms 107:1

Who is Jesus?

Jesus is a man who gave his life to reconcile man back to God. To bridge the gap between God and man after the fall of man. We can always see examples from the scriptures. John 3:16. So the function of Jesus was to lay down his life but forgiveness is from God. Because man did not offend Jesus but God. Ephesians 1:7, Colossians 1:12-14.

Colossians 2:13 (KJV)  And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

Reading from the previous verses, you'll learn that God raised Jesus from the dead and thus, by your believing in the sacrifice of Jesus, God also raised you with him in faith. Amen.

Colossians 2:12-14.

In conclusion, the forgiveness of sin is the sole responsibility of God the Father through Jesus the son being raised from the dead.

Romans 1:3&4.

Stay blessed.
