How to improveyour lifestyle as a christian
By...... Favour Emonena
Christian lifestyle is different from the lifestyle of the world, many Christians have forgotten about the lifestyle that Christ brought to the world.
What are the basic things needed for Christians to improve their lifestyle? let's look in detail below......
Listen always
There is always room to grow and improve in the Christian life (2 Pet. 3:18). However, as christian listen to the word of God is very important so as to have experience and to develop your spiritual life. We might occasionally find ourselves going through the motions without any touble with our zeal, or enthusiasm. We cannot allow Such times of spiritual training or dullness to be the norm. We must fight back in some cases when the devil would lull us to sleep through our lifeless routine or carelessness.
But, even if we are not in a spiritual rut, we should be ready to improve our walk with the Lord. After all, the goal is to “always abound” in the work of the Lord (1 Cor. 15:58). I believe we all want to improve in our Christian walk.
Study your Bible
As you already know and will hear Everytime and it may be something we don't take seriously. We all know we need to hear from the lord, but we should also remember that before we can hear from the lord we need the word of God. The man meditates on the word of God day and night always find favour from the lord (Ps. 1:2).look at Joshua who the lord told the important of studying his that he shall find good success not in a day study but always, constantly stayed in God’s Word (Josh. 1:8). , skip three, then read again, then skip two more days, etc. This is not a recipe for spiritual success. Keep in mind that, in Bible reading, consistency is more important than quantity. Two chapters a day is more profitable in the long run than fifteen chapters every three days. Improve your Christian life by deciding to be a daily Bible reader.
Cultivate a Prayer habit
Many christian don't understand the important of prayers in their Christian life, prayer is one of the most important key of improving you christian lifestyle. How is your prayer life? Do you only pray in worship service or before you eat a meal? Do you only find yourself bowing your head when you are afraid or when things are not going as you planned? The best time to pray is when you think you can't do it again or can be better, but we must be careful not to pray only when we need something from God or tragedy we have. One sure way to improve your Christian life is by praying to God about your spiritual progress and growth (Col. 4:2).
Pray to God and ask him to give you opportunities to serve him by serving others (Eph. 6:18-19). Pray for others who are in need of prayer or have requested prayer for a situation they are going through,(1 Thess. 5:25). Confess your sins to God and ask him for strength to avoid caving into temptation when it presents itself again (1 John 1:9). Pray and thank God for his blessings and his providence.
Be an Encourager to others
That you could improve your Christian life by encouraging someone else may seem counterintuitive, but it’s not. Believers should be encouraging each other on a daily basis (Heb. 3:13). As christ came to serve others, we will only be viewed as great in the kingdom if we serve and encourage others (Mark 10:44-45). We will be stronger Christians if we focus on building others up and motivating others to greater degrees of faithfulness.
In Christianity, to improve yourself you must forget yourself. Get the attention off of you and on to those around you and you will take on more of the identity of Jesus (Matt. 16:24). Send a text, write a card, make a visit, compliment someone who serves in the assembly. Find a way to encourage a brother or sister and then do it (Gal. 6:10).
Putting away Self and living in Spirit
For those that don't know Christ always live their lives in the world without caring about spiritual works the only work there have is what you can see, non-Christians will mainly care about their wellbeing and that of loved ones.
On the contrary, when one becomes a Christian, the focus changes to seeking a spirit-filled life. Reading through the fourth verse of Paul’s letter to the Galatians will expound on the lifestyle of early believers. A true Christian’s lifestyle does not seek worldly riches but stocks up riches in heaven as taught by Jesus Christ in the Bible.
The real christian always care about their spiritual life than the physical life, so believers are to grow their spirit life and live their physical being.
Taking a new direction
Contrary to what the world believes, a Christian needs to sacrifice earthly pleasures. With the numerous activities in the world, it is vital to choose what benefits your walk with Jesus Christ. One of the significant gestures of the Son of God is service to others.
We learn from the Bible how Jesus Christ washed his disciples’ feet in the act of humility and kindness. It is the same for modern Christians. Instead of having people to serve you, develop the habit of helping the needy in society. By doing so, you will be fulfilling your obligations of living as a true Christian.
In all believe in salvation through Jesus Christ. By confessing our sins, God is merciful to forgive us.
Pray regularly to strengthen your relationship with God. As recorded in Mathew 6, the Lord’s Prayer offers points to cover when praying to God.
