Pi is still only a project and not yet a kind of money in the traditional sense. In order to launch the Pi digital currency in the future, the Pi network participants are presently building the necessary community.
The Pi network currently has around 29 million active users, which is quite a large number considering they only started three years ago.
Pi coin, as it is currently defined, should be a stablecoin. It attempts to strike a balance between availability (easily mined) and scarcity (the total volume of Pi cryptocurrencies is pre-determined).
Stablecoins are a type of cryptocurrency that is less volatile than other cryptocurrencies because their value is tied to real fiat currencies. Tether USDT is a popular stablecoin, which is a digital equivalent of the US dollar with roughly the same value.
When Will Pi Coin Be Available: The Pi Network is Getting Closer to the Open Mainnet Launch
In its recent 2022 end-of-year update, the Pi Core team confirmed that Pi Network is at a critical stage in its enclosed mainnet development leading up to the Open Mainnet launch. The team is still focused on completing KYC and making additional technological improvements before opening the mainnet to the public, but there is no set timeline for this transition.
The public statement concentrated on specific project improvements made by the Pi Core team in 2022, such as technical and product work in mainnet migration, KYC solution, Pi Platform, and ecosystem building, among other important features. Backend, interface, compliance, community success, and other efforts have also been made.
