Police in Kenya is always known for brutality and bribes. Even though the IPOA has tried to bring sanity to the force, these mentioned elements are still deeply rooted in the force.
The order by the President given the other day with the aim of sanitizing boda boda sector was welcomed however at the wrong time without any task force coming up with better ways of dealing with it. This kind of a blanket order after some boda boda riders heckled a lady who also had been accused of causing an accident is uncalled for. They police are now harrasing anybody riding a motorbike. They are happy to do this as it has also created a source of income inform of bribes.
I don't support any criminal activity but this has gone too far! Not all boda boda riders are as criminals as everybody tends to believe today! These are serious father, sons and husbands who are struggling with the tough economy which actually has been escalated by Uhuruto's government.
If the prices of everything have gone up and you let the police behave the way they have started and always do...where will these families get their daily bread??
Mr. President, rethink this issue and set a task force to come up with a better solution. I know you might not understand considering your background but Kenyans are suffering.
