The Perfect Fall Cookies: Cinnamon Cookies Recipe

Cinnamon cookies are the quintessential treat for fall, offering warm, comforting flavors that pair perfectly with a cozy cup of tea or coffee. This simple recipe ensures soft, flavorful cookies that are ideal for autumn baking.

Ingredients:

  • 200 g all-purpose flour
  • 100 g granulated sugar
  • 100 g brown sugar
  • 100 g unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • Extra granulated sugar for rolling (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven:

    • Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients:

    • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, ground cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cream Butter and Sugars:

    • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add Wet Ingredients:

    • Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Combine Ingredients:

    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Shape and Bake:

    • Scoop tablespoon-sized amounts of dough and roll them into balls. If desired, roll the balls in extra granulated sugar before placing them on the baking sheet.
    • Flatten each ball slightly with the back of a spoon or your fingers.
  7. Bake:

    • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. The centers should still be soft.
  8. Cool:

    • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Tips for Success:

  • Butter Temperature: Make sure the butter is softened to room temperature for easy mixing and a smoother dough.

  • Consistency: Don’t overmix the dough to keep the cookies tender.

  • Even Baking: Flatten the dough balls slightly before baking to ensure even cooking.
